The tournament will take place each July and has been penned in to take place at the Bendigo Stadium for the 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons. Needless to say the event is much more accessible to up and coming professionals based in Australia but the top players in the sport have all agreed it's an exciting challenge to test their game in another part of the world.
Snooker Australian Goldfields Open betting should not be too different from betting on any other snooker ranking event. The professionals who can actually be bothered to bear the long flights and extensive effort to play at the event will be the tournament favourites.
Format of the Snooker Australian Goldfields Open
The format of the Snooker Australian Goldfields Open will follow exactly the same pattern as the other main ranking events for the sport. An early round stage will see a high number of professional players and qualifiers compete against each other.
The field will be whittled down to the last eight before the semi-finals and the final take place in a single table situation in the main arena. This final will be broadcast all around the world.
Ranking points and prize money for the Snooker Australian Goldfields Open are awarded in exactly the same way as all other snooker tournaments. The higher finishes and the biggest breaks will receive more ranking points and more prize money.
FUTURE OF THE AUSTRALIAN GOLDFIELDS OPEN
It may seem a little early to discuss the future of the Australian Goldfields Open but it's impossible to predict whether it will be a long term success. World Snooker head Barry Hearn has negotiated a three-year deal for the tournament to take place.
The situation will be assessed at the end of the 2013 tournament to see whether the tournament needs to be expanded and whether the tournament needs to be moved in terms of venue so that a bigger crowd can watch live snooker.
There is no reason why the future of the Australian Goldfields Open cannot be long and bright. If the first three years go well then a big contract could be waiting in the wings. However, there is a big worry over professional participation despite the fact some players will already be in Asia for a range of Chinese events.
Opportunities in Snooker
Snooker in Australia is no where near as popular as snooker in Nigeria or parts of Asia. Opportunities in snooker for Australian players are therefore very hard to come by and they will view this event as a chance to launch themselves onto the global stage.
Australia has produced some great players in the recent past such as the former World Champion Neil Robertson and Quentin Hann who once lit the snooker world alight with his flair play and unpredictability. This is an example of two professionals who would have killed for opportunities in snooker similar to this one.
Australia Snooker Betting
There is absolutely no reason why Australia snooker betting will not explode if this tournament is a success. Australia snooker betting does have the potential to damage snooker betting markets in Nigeria.
The Australian public will also be the first to see the best young Australian and New Zealand players coming through the ranks.
